
Three Morningside teams receiving votes in latest standings
KANSAS CITY, MO. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics released its latest coaches' polls for men's and womens' basketball and its final coaches' rating for women's volleyball today, placing Morningside in the receiving votes category in all three sports.
The Morningside women's volleyball team held their ground from the last ratings, which were released on October 30. The women had a strong end of their regular season schedule, compiling a 7-3 record in the final 10 games with losses to no. 1 Northwestern, no. 4 Concordia, and no. 18 Midland.
Women's Basketball has started the season 2-1, with a signature win over preseason no. 17 Grand View and another solid showing against Kansas Wesleyan. As Morningside has climbed into the pool of teams receiving votes, Grand View has fallen to no. 23, despite a victory over preseason no. 19 Northwestern.
The Mustang men have also joined the teams receiving votes in their coaches' poll after a 4-0 start, with double-digit wins over Coe, Viterbo, and Governors State and a big win over no. 24 Kansas Wesleyan.
Volleyball awaits the NAIA National Championship Opening Round pairings, due to be announced on Nov. 18. Women's and Men's Basketball head to Concordia, no. 5 and no. 9, respectively, on Saturday, tipping off at 2 and 3:45 p.m.
