Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center

Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center

The Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center, located at 3415 Peters Avenue, is home to the Mustangs’ men’s & women’s basketball and men’s and women’s volleyball teams.  Allee Gymnasium, built in 1949, is tucked inside Rosen Verdoorn's walls. With a capacity of 2,500, it serves as the home court for the basketball and volleyball teams, as well as the venue for the home competitions of the university's cheer and dance teams.

The building was rededicated as the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center in 2007, following a significant renovation that added a new ticket booth and concession stand, among other improvements.  It's namesakes, Tom Rosen, a 1970 Morningside graduate, and Donald Verdoorn, a 1955 Morningside graduate, each made the naming gifts for the renovations of the facility.

The M-Club Room, installed as part of the 2007 renovation, overlooks the court and features a variety of Morningside sports memorabilia. It was named in honor of Albert “Buck” Buckingham, a former coach and athletic director at Morningside.

The original facility, simply Allee Gymnasium, replaced the institution's previous gymnasium, located in what is now the Hickman Johnson Furrow Learning Center.
