Dalach, Shoquist earn GPAC honors

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – For the first time this season, Morningside has earned a GPAC Volleyball Player of the Week, claiming the Setter and Defender of the Week awards.

Freshman Aleksandra Dalach won Setter of the Week. Dalach is from Opacz-Kolonia, Poland and averaged 15.67 assists per set against conference opponents and 14.44 assists per set over the week. In nine sets last week, she totaled 130 assists in three sweeps.

Dalach recorded 47 assists in a sweep over Dakota Wesleyan, which ranks second for the program in the current scoring era.

Senior Payton Shoquist won Defender of the Week for last week. Shoquist is from Mansfield, Texas and recorded 59 digs and averaged 6.56 digs per set in nine sets played. 

Against Buena Vista, Shoquist averaged 7.67 digs per set and against Dakota Wesleyan she averaged 6.33 digs per set. 

Morningside is at Jamestown Wednesday and head across town to take on Briar Cliff Saturday.
