Women's 4x800 hits NAIA qualifying mark

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Morningside women's track team had a big weekend at the South Dakota State University Open, hitting a qualifying standard for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Indoor National Championships in another event, the 4x800-meter relay.  

The squad of Jolee Mesz, Nicole Zuehl, Morgan Sachs, and Courtney Sporrer finished the race with a time of 9.36.55 to place second.

All four Mustangs placed well in other races at this meet, with Mesz placing no. 4 in the 600-meter run with a time of 1.39.86 and Sachs no. 8 with a time of 1.40.83. Sporrer took seventh in the 1,000-meter run in 3.06.86 and Zuehl was 11th with a time of 3.22.33.

Kinsey Alt also saw success in the Long Jump, taking seventh place with a jump of 5.02 meters. 

Morningside's throwers competed at the Dakota Wesleyan Alumni Open. Jacee Tindall took fourth in the shot put with a distance of 11.05 meters, while Shelby Mills placed ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 13.54 meters. 

The Mustangs are back in action at the Mount Marty Last Chance meet on Feb. 7 and at the Wayne State Wildcat Open on Feb. 8.
