HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Morningside split a double feature in South Carolina today, as rainy conditions forced changes to this week's tennis schedule in Hilton Head. The Mustangs dropped the day's first match to Division I Mercyhurst 6-1 before rebounding with a 7-0 victory over Shawnee State.

Line Jensen was the only Mustang to pick up a victory over Mercyhurst, scoring a 6-2, 1-6, 12-10 victory. 

On the flipside, it was all Morningside in the day's nightcap, as the Mustangs blanked Shawnee State, picking up three doubles wins ahead of six singles victories.

Jensen and Brooke Marshall were first in the books with a 6-0 doubles victory, followed by Sophia Guntren and Ellie Peterson, with a matching 6-0 lead to take the doubles point. Stefany Simplicio and Lidia Suarez added a bonus win, defeating Shawnee State 6-1.

Suarez, playing in the no.3 singles spot, added to Morningside's lead, winning 6-4, 6-0. Guntren picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win, and Simplicio won 6-0, 6-0 at no. 1 to clinch the victory. 

Addison Meyers added a 6-4, 6-0 win at no. 5, Emma Dahlhoff won 6-0, 6-0 at no. 6, and Peterson completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win.

The Mustangs have one more match in Hilton Head before returning to the midwest for a pair of matches in Kansas next week.
