
Women's tennis grabs win over (RV) McPherson
SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NEB. – Morningside picked up another big non-conference win in women's tennis this evening, collecting a 4-3 win over McPherson College, who was receiving votes in the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics coaches' ratings.
A 2-1 advantage in doubles proved to be the difference in the end, as Stefany Simplicio and Kailee Bailey won the no. 2 doubles match 6-1 and Line Jensen and Brooke Marshall won 6-2 at no. 1. Lidia Suarez and Sophia Guntren narrowly missed sweeping the match, dropping a 7-6 decision with a 7-5 tiebreaker.
In singles, Jensen was the first to cross the finish line, claiming a quick 6-2, 6-3 victory. Bailey was the next Mustang to score, winning 6-0, 6-2, and Marshall secured the team victory with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 decision.
Morningside's next outing comes on March 3, as it squares off with Spring Arbor when the teams meet in South Carolina.
