Junior Merel Kooij (Rockanje Zuid, Netherlands) and sophomore Olivia Boudreau (Papillion, Neb.) increased current win streaks against Hastings College, highlighting a 7-0 Mustangs win. Kooij's 6-3, 6-4 decision at number five upped her record to 10-6 and was her fourth in a row. Boudreau, a 6-4, 6-0 win at number four, went to 8-3 with her third successive triumph.
The men's section of the double dual was back and forth throughout HC's courts. The freshman trio of Mikhil Raja (Belvedere Harare, Zimbabwe), Eduard Salvana (Calella, Spain), and Alexander Castillo (Santiago, Chile) all claimed straight-set decisions for head coach Alex Struck's squad. The Mustangs managed to battle back from a 3-0 deficit before Hastings won a three-set thriller at number six to take the 4-3 final.
Morningside's women (12-6) and men (10-7) await the pairings for the 2022 GPAC Championships Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30.
