
Mustangs battle with Minnesota-Morris in final home dual of season

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The final home swimming competition of the season for Morningside took place Saturday inside the Hindman-Hobbs Center pool, as the Mustangs went toe-to-toe with Minnesota-Morris.
The quartet of Delaney Biesecker, Grace Holzerland, Josie Dike, and Kaylee Barlow took second in the 200-yard medley race, completing the race in 2:03.13 to get the day started.
In the 1,000-freestyle, senior Haley Snawerdt finished the endurance race in 12:37.03 to place second.
Two Mustangs competed in the 50-yard freestyle, with Kaylee Barlow placing second in 27.82 and Olivia Ramaeker third in 28.03. The first win of the day for the Mustang women was by one of the seniors, Holzerland, in the 200-IM, besting a Morris swimmer by .01 seconds. Holzerland swam 2:28.24 to win. Dike placed third in the 100-butterfly at 1:06.47.
In the 100-free, Barlow and Ramaeker placed third and fourth respectively, completing the race in 1:02.2 and 1:04.26. Biesecker returned to the pool to place third in the 100 backstroke at 1:11.87. Snawerdt completed her second long distance race of the day by swimming the 500 in 6:13.69. In the final race of the day, the 400 freestyle relay team of Dike, Holzerland, Biesecker, and Snawerdt finished in 4:03.28 to take second.
The final meet for Morningside before the conference championships is at the Hamline invite on Jan. 27 in Saint Paul, Minn.
