SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Morningside's attack erupted for its largest scoring output of the season Wednesday, as the Mustangs dominated Waldorf 9-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference women's soccer play at Elwood Olsen Stadium.

The Mustangs (10-1-3, 7-1-1 GPAC) wasted no time taking control, scoring six goals in the first half and three more after the break. Mia Stoffel led the charge with a first-half hat trick, scoring in the 7th, 14th and 21st minutes.

"That felt really good," Stoffel said of her hat trick. "I haven't been scoring much this season, but it was a full team effort and celebrating with everyone felt great." 

Keyera Harmon, Tuva Hammarlund and Fien Lampe each added goals before halftime, giving Morningside a 6-0 cushion.

Fenna Van Mill extended the lead in the 56th minute off an assist from Lampe, while Tove Schill closed the scoring with back-to-back goals in the 60th and 62nd minutes, assisted by Liadan Kavanagh and Karli Evans.

Stoffel's three goals highlighted a balanced attack that saw six different Mustangs find the back of the net. Harmon and Heine each tallied multiple assists, while Feigl, Kavanagh, Lampe and Evans also contributed helpers in the rout.

Morningside outshot Waldorf 46-3 and finished with 12 corner kicks. Goalkeepers Moriah Dixson and Tatum Hesse combined for the team's eighth shutout, with Hesse stopping the only shot on goal in the second half.

"It was fun watching everyone get to play, because they work so hard," Stoffel said. 

The Mustangs have now won five straight GPAC matches and sit near the top of the conference standings heading into the final week of regular-season play.
