SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside's women's soccer team will advance to the Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason tournament semifinal round, courtesy of a pair of second-half goals in a shutout win over crosstown rival, Briar Cliff.
On the attack early, the Mustangs found their footing and the back of the net in the second half of this evening's contest, as Lisann Evert broke through BCU's back row to hit the game winner in the 65th minute on a pass from Ida Carlsson.
Carlsson was serving up passes on silver platters, as 12 minutes later she connected with Selma Ohlsson to give Morningside a two score advantage.
Kyla Syverson recorded another shutout victory, with four saves in the contest.
The Mustangs advance to Thursday's GPAC semifinal game, looking for a rematch of an early season competitive contest with the Hastings Broncos.
