SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Morningside University sophomore Mackenzi Harrel was named Tuesday as the Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Harrel was 9-for-14 during the week, collected five extra-base hits, and drove in 12 runs throughout the four games against Hastings and College of Saint Mary.

Harrel homered in Game 1 against the Broncos on Saturday, then followed it up with two knocks over the fence in Sunday's opener against the Flames.

The sophomore from Lincoln, Neb., struck out just once this week. She was also 4-for-7 in two-out situations, and 7-for-8 in RBI chances.

In the field, Harrel was 6-for-6 as the right fielder.
