Mustangs tabbed second in GPAC preseason poll

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- The Morningside University men's wrestling team was voted Friday second in the Great Plains Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll.

The Mustangs had eight men who earned GPAC All-Conference status last season. During conference action, the Mustangs won seven GPAC duals.

Earlier this week, the Mustangs learned they were ranked 24th nationally.

In addition to the team rankings, the GPAC also released individual rankings. The three nationally-ranked wrestlers -- Zander Ernst (165 pounds), Alex Vandyke (174), and Jakob Jerabek (285) -- also found themselves ranked first in the conference.

Gabe Grice, Morningside's 133-pound wrestler, starts the season ranked second. Hunter Steffans has a No. 4 ranking at 141 pounds. At 149 pounds, Chris Aragon is ranked fifth, while at 157, Caden Eggleston has been ranked third in the GPAC.

Deontez Williams has been ranked fifth at 184, and 197-pounder Bryce Kwiecinski sixth.
