SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Morningside men's volleyball team showed resilience on Saturday, taking a competitive second set before No. 7 Missouri Baptist closed out the match in four.
The Spartans won by set scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-21, and 25-23.
RV Morningside hit .393 in the second set, while committing just five errors. Donte Jennings earned the go-ahead point with an assist from Gabe Schreck that put the Mustangs up 16-15. Natan Alves closed out the set with a kill, also assisted by Schreck.
Alves and Liam Lutz were the top two hitters with 15 and 10 kills, respectively. Mohamed Benkrid had eight kills.
Jacob DePauw topped the Mustangs with 23 kills, while Schreck contributed 15.
Owen Anderson had a team-high nine digs, while DePauw had eight. Tharen Cox led with five total blocks.
