Stangs collect season series sweep over Ottawa

OTTAWA, KAN. – Morningside kept itself in the second-place race in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, picking up a league win over Ottawa, 3-0, with six games remaining on the calendar.

Isaiah Baynes led the Mustangs' offense, striking for 13 kills at a .462 attack percentage. Natan Alves and Erik Krenz, who returned to the lineup for the first time since early February, each had nine terminations. Tharen Cox pounded six kills with a .857 kill percentage. Jacob DePauw had 30 assists in the match.

Krenz and Alves each had a pair of block assists, while Owen Anderson led the defense behind the block with 12 digs. Jacob Baynes had six, Alves five, and Isaiah Baynes and DePauw four apiece.

The Mustangs are back at it tomorrow, playing Graceland at 2 p.m. and Mount Mercy at 4 p.m. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
