Mustangs lose battle of conference unbeatens

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – In a battle of 3-0 teams in GPAC play, Morningside played host to No. 9 Jamestown Thursday night, and the Jimmies prevailed in three straight 25-15 sets.

The Mustangs had a positive hitting percentage in each set, but they couldn't convert on as many opportunities as the Jimmies did inside Allee Gym. Jamestown had double digit kills in each set and hit .385 or better in each set. Morningside reached double digit kills in the opening set, totalling 11 on a .161 hitting percentage.

Natan Alves led the Mustangs with 10 kills and four digs. The GPAC Setter of the Week, Jacob DePauw, totaled 21 assists and six digs. Isaiah Baynes added six kills and four digs. 

The Mustangs are back in action Saturday evening, facing Dordt at 5 p.m. inside the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center.
