Mustangs named to all-conference list, claim setter, libero of the year awards

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Great Plains Athletic Conference released the first of its spring sport all-conference lists as the men's volleyball season wrapped up with the conference tournament.  Morningside had seven athletes receive all-conference honors or honorable mention, with Jacob DePauw and Owen Anderson receiving the setter and libero of the year titles.

Isaiah Baynes had the honor of being the first-ever first team all-conference athlete for the Mustangs, following a season in which he averaged 4.23 kills per set.  The freshman from Mankato, Minn. recorded 355 kills and 136 digs in the season's 25 matches.

Sophomore outside hitter Jacob Baynes and freshmen Owen Anderson, Jacob DePauw, and Erik Krenz were all named to the second team all-conference list.  Baynes recorded 220 kills, good for an average of 2.56 per set.  He also recorded 108 digs.  Anderson averaged 2.76 digs per set, recording 237 across 86 sets.  DePauw averaged 9.43 assists per set and recorded 119 digs, averaging 1.38 per set.  Krenz had 52 blocks and 160 kills on the season, hitting .314.

Freshman outside hitters Tharen Cox and Dylan Hamil rounded out Morningside's all-conference honors haul, both getting the nod for the honorable mention list.
