Men's volleyball sweeps GPAC Players of the Week

Mustangs sweep player of the week honors

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – For the first time in program history, Morningside's men's volleyball team swept the Great Plains Athletic Conference's player of the week honors.  

Jacob DePauw, a freshman setter from South Beloit, Ill. was named setter of the week following a 12.0 assist per set performance against Kansas Wesleyan University.  DePauw also had two blocks and a kill in the match.

Freshman outside hitter Isaiah Baynes nabbed the attacker of the week honor following a 5.33 kill per set performance against the Coyotes, good for a  total of 16 kills while hitting .419.  Baynes, who is from Mankato, Minn., also had seven digs, an ace, and two blocks.

Also hailing from Mankato, Erik Krenz was named defensive player of the week this week.  Krenz, who followed his attacker of the week-worthy performance last week with 15 kills and a .583 hitting percentage against KWU, recorded a game-high nine digs and three blocks.

Morningside continues its season in the GPAC tournament semifinals at the University of Jamestown.
