OSKALOOSA, IOWA – The Mustangs opened their second day at William Penn facing off with the host Statesmen.  Following the 3-0 loss, with scores of 25-21, 25-19, and 25-19, Morningside wrapped the weekend with another competitive loss to Goshen, 3-1, 25-20, 25-27, 25-19, and 25-22.

Against the second-ranked Statesmen, Morningside recorded 31 kills while hitting .257, led by Isaiah Baynes with 11 kills.  Jacob Baynes and Dylan Hamil each recorded five kills, and Jacob DePauw recorded 25 assists.

Defensively the Mustangs recorded 24 digs and five team blocks against the hosts.  Owen Anderson recorded nine digs followed by Jacob Baynes with six.  Tharen Cox had three blocks, all via block assist.  Erik Krenz had a block assist and the team's solo block.

In the team's nightcap, Morningside recorded 32 digs and six blocks, again led by Anderson, with 12, and Jacobs Baynes and DePauw, with six each.  Krenz recorded four blocks, followed by DePauw with 3.

The Mustang attack improved over the Leafs, who were receiving votes in the latest national poll, recording 51 kills in the four-set match.  Isaiah Baynes again led the way, with 17 kills.  Jacob Baynes recorded 16 and Erik Krenz followed with nine.  DePauw tallied 42 of the Mustangs' 50 assists in the match.  

Morningside is back in action on March 15, when Central Christian comes to Sioux City for the Mustangs home finale in a 7 p.m. contest.
