Mustangs have five athletes, seven performances, in top 10 at Sioux City Relays

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside's competitors shone in this year's abbreviated Sioux City Relays, which was cut to just 11 men's events completed by the forecast for day two, with six competitors placing in the top 10 of their respective events. 

The Mustangs' headliner was Austin Freiberg, who defended his title of Sioux City Relays 110-meter hurdle champion, leaning into the top spot with a time of 14.73 seconds. Freiberg also placed ninth in the 200-meter dash, running the event in 22.36 seconds.

Ashton Banker was .3 seconds ahead of Freiberg, crossing the line in fifth place in 22.06 seconds. He was also the fifth place finisher in the 100-meter dash, sprinting to a 10.86 second time down the main straightaway. 

David Hernandez wowed once again in the 400-meter hurdles, placing second with a time of 56.11 seconds. 

Kadyn Cline was Morningside's top finisher in the 400-meter dash, placing sixth in 51.26 seconds.

Levi Son led a pack of Mustangs in the 10,000-meter run, running a personal best for 10th place in 35:04.82

Morningside is back in action on Wednesday, competing in the Mount Marty Twilight meet in Yankton, S.D.
