Mustangs take to the track in Brookings

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Over the course of Friday and Saturday, Morningside's track runners competed at the NAIA Preview/DII Open in Brookings, South Dakota. 

On Friday, Garrett Hanson paced a pack of Mustangs in the 5,000. He crossed the finish line in 16:12.45 for 16th. Parker Halder ran 16:19.21 and Eein McKinley 19:28.43. Hanson followed that up Saturday with a 20th place finish in the mile, running 4:32.43 and a 15th place finish in the 3,000 with a time of 9:29.85. McKinley placed 16th in the 3,000 at 9:34.35.

Boston Riedemann ran 9.41 in the 60 meter hurdle prelims. Leighton Olesen ran 11th in the 60-meters prelim with a time of 7.11.

In the 600-meters, Casey Kruger ran 1:24.44 to place 11th, third out of GPAC runners in the field. In the 400, Kadyn Cline ran 50.21 for 11th place overall, but second among GPAC runners. Jack Kling placed 14th running 51.11.

In the men's 1,000, RC Hicks ran 2:49.14 for 10th. Austin Ramold ran 2:54.02 and Jose Lopez ran 2:58.53. Olesen placed 11th in the 200, running 22.36 with Blake Brown placing 17th with a time of 22.65. 

Morningside is back in action at the DWU Alumni Meet Feb. 3.
