Morningside scores five, collects clean sheet in home win

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – A couple hours after the women's team put up five goals, the Morningside University men's soccer team followed suit Wednesday over Northwestern.

Five different Mustangs scored in a 5-0 victory at Elwood Olsen Stadium.

Four of those goals came during the first half.

Yannik Vogel scored 70 seconds into the match, Tassilo Koerner scored at the 4-minute, 7-second point, then Niklas Kneller put the ball through the net at the 5:02 mark.

Gustavo Dos Santos made it a 4-0 match with a goal in the 28th minute. Kneller had the assist on the play.

Max Sickenberger scored in the 70th minute, thanks to the assist from Tony Spina.

Morningside outshot the Red Raiders 14-4, and it had seven shots on goal. Morningside took three corner kicks.

Tim Teschner took the win in net for the Mustangs, while Timon Koerber earned two saves in 45 minutes of play.
