
Statesmen shut out Mustangs in second contest

OSKALOOSA, Iowa — Morningside's men's soccer team lost 6-0 on Wednesday night to William Penn at Drost Field.
The Statesmen scored five goals in the second half, all by different scorers.
They outshot the Mustangs 22-7. Yannik Vogel took two shots.
Of those seven attempts, three of those were on goal for the Mustangs. The three who shot on goal were Bennet Wesselkaemper, Gustavo Dos Santos, and Tassilo Koerner.
Morningside used two goalkeepers in the match. Timon Koerber got five saves in 58 minutes, 20 seconds in net, while Tim Teschner got three saves in the final 31:40.
The Mustangs also had one corner kick in the loss.
Morningside returns home to face Grand View at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Elwood Olsen Stadium. The women's soccer team starts off the doubleheader at 1 p.m.
