
Morningside places NAIA-best 27 men's soccer players on scholar-athlete list
KANSAS CITY, MO. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced its Daktronics Scholar-Athletes for men's soccer, releasing this year's list ahead of the 2023 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship being played out in Wichita, Kan.
Morningside had a best-in-the-nation 27 athletes receive the scholar-athlete distinction this year, Abdisa Kumbi, Abraham Ponce, Anders Staxen, Bennet Wesselkaemper, Bernardo Barbosa, Diego Ocando, Enzo Kerekes Tagliati, Gero Zarbo, Gustavo dos Santos, Issa Aman, Jack Guinan, Jesse Welfing, Johannes Lang, Jona Fischer, Jonas Markfoged, Jordy Kinss, Jurre Thielen, Levi Von Hagen, Mario Damiani, Maron Guimaraes, Matheus Lacerda, Mathias Constantinou, Max Sickenberger, Oskar Schoof, Rafael Telles, Sander Kohberg, and Timon Koerber.
In order to qualify for the NAIA scholar-athlete program, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5, appear on a sport's eligibility certificate, and have attended one full year at the current institution.
