SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The snow didn't bother the Mustangs in their regular season finale against Dakota Wesleyan, scoring three second half goals to defeat the Tigers Saturday at Elwood Olsen Stadium.
On senior day, neither side could score in the first half, as Dakota Wesleyan had a shot get past Morningside's goalkeeper, but the goal wasn't rewarded due to an offside.
It didn't take long for Morningside to break the tie in the second half, as Levi Von Hagen scored in the 51st minute to make it 1-0. Jona Fischer, the Mustangs leading scorer this season, put a second goal in the 69th minute and Von Hagen scored his second of the afternoon in the 77th minute.
Oliver Melander got the Senior Day start in goal, recording one save in 45 minutes. Timon Koerber entered the match in the second half, recording three saves. Von Hagen made the most of his 34 minutes, tallied three shots, all on goal, and two goals. Johannes Lang tallied six shots, four on goal for the Mustangs.
Morningside knows its first round opponent in the GPAC Tournament Wednesday, as they will face Hastings.
