SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Morningside got the first advantage, but Dordt battled back to force a 1-1 draw Saturday night at Elwood Olsen Stadium in Sioux City.
In the sixth minute, Fabian Andersson scored on a rebound off a deflected shot from his teammate. The goal was Andersson's only shot on goal in the match, but proved to be an important one.
The Mustangs led 1-0 at the intermission, but Dordt scored a goal in the 72nd minute to even the match. The Mustangs were the aggressors throughout the match, and had multiple opportunities in the match's final minutes to break the deadlock, but couldn't get a shot to the back of the net.
In total, Morningside recorded 28 shots to Dordt's nine, including 11 shots on goal for the Mustangs. Jona Fischer had three shots, all on goal for the Mustangs. Max Sickenberger tallied seven shots in the match. In goal, Timon Koerber recorded five saves for Morningside.
Morningside is back in action against cross-town rival Briar Cliff Wednesday night.
