HASTINGS. Neb. – Two first half goals put Morningside ahead at the half, and it held on for a 3-1 win over Hastings Saturday evening in Hastings.
Levi Von Hagen scored the first goal of the match in the eighth minute, marking the second straight game where he scored the first goal of the contest. His goal was assisted by Johannes Lang and Max Sickenberger.
Lang was involved in the second goal of the first half as well, as his pass connected with Niklas Kneller for a goal in the 12th minute. The 2-0 lead for the Mustangs stood true at the intermission.
Sickenberger got a goal of his own in the 74th minute to make it 3-0 Mustangs. Timon Koerber gave up his first goal of the season in the 79th minute, but it was too late for the Broncos.
Sickenberger had three shots, all on goal for the Mustangs. Fabian Andersson also had three shots. Koerber recorded three saves in goal.
The Mustangs are in third in the GPAC standings, and face the second team in the standings, Concordia, Wednesday in Seward.
