Sickenberger scores two in Morningside draw

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Mustangs started on the right foot in today’s match at rival Briar Cliff, but a strong Charger offense came to play and handed Morningside its sixth tie of the season, with a final score of 3-3.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Mustangs started on the right foot in today's match at rival Briar Cliff, but a strong Charger offense came to play and handed Morningside its sixth tie of the season, with a final score of 3-3.

It was early in the first half that Max Sickenberger got a look at the BCU goal, scoring the match's first goal in the 10th minute of play. Briar Cliff hit the equalizer before the conclusion of the first half, then netted two in a row after the break to force Morningside to play from behind again.

The Mustangs answered, with Sickenberger recording his second unassisted goal of the match in the 76th minute. Two minutes later, Sickenberger would record his fifth point of the match, sending a ball to Robin Thomala for Morningside's third goal and the second equalizer of the afternoon.

Bjarne Huth recorded six saves in the match, having seen nine shots on goal in the match. 

The Mustangs, now 3-5-6, and 2-1-5 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, now look toward their Saturday match at Elwood Olsen Stadium, hosting Midland University.
