Morningside and Dordt Tie 3-3

Final minute goal saves Mustangs from loss

SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – Last second heroics earned the Mustangs a 3-3 draw at Dordt University, avoiding adding to the loss column against the third in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Defenders.

Morningside scored first, with Johannes Lang scoring the only first-half goal 31 minutes into the match. It was back and forth from there, with Dordt countering and then pulling ahead in the second half.

Less than 15 minutes after Dordt's go ahead goal, Gero Zarbo got the feed from Jacob Fronmueller to net the equalizer.

Dordt would pull ahead with less than five minutes to play, seemingly scoring the game winner in the 85th minute.

Morningside fought to stay in the game, playing for almost four minutes before Zarbo got in the box near the right side of the goal. Taking a feed from Robin Thomala, Zarbo got the opportunity to send the equalizer into the net via the header, scoring the goal with less than 10 seconds left to play.

The Mustangs, taking the tie, moves to 3-5-5 and 2-1-4 in the conference. They'll play at Briar Cliff on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
