
McGrath leads Mustangs at Raider Spring Invite

ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Two Top 5 finishes for the Morningside University men's golf team helped it finish third Wednesday at the Raider Spring Invitational.
Darragh McGrath and Ryan Cavanaugh were the two Mustangs who broke into the Top 5, en route to the Mustangs' combined score of 586 at Landsmeer Golf Club. Each golfer played 36 holes during the beautiful weather.
McGrath shot a 36-hole score of 144, which was 2-over par. He had eight birdies, four each during each 18-hole round. McGrath had back-to-back birdies during his second round on hole Nos. 5 and 6.
Cavanaugh finished seventh, and shot a 145. He ended his day with three birdies among his last four holes. Cavanaugh birdied hole No. 1 during both rounds.
Finn Coull finished 20th with a 149. His highlight of the day happened on No. 10, which he eagled during the second round.
Ariel Lev placed 22nd at 150. In the first round, he earned an eagle on No. 15. Mason Burger placed 30th (152), and he recorded eight birdies and an eagle.
Morningside's 'B' team placed right behind the 'A' squad, combining a score of 592. All five men on that team placed in the Top 30. Jose Martinez led the Mustangs 'B' team with a 148, good for a tie at 17th. He led off his day with a birdie at hole No. 9.
Brock Lutterman tied with Coull at 149. Lutterman had three birdies in each round.
Ben Brodin and Emil Hoffman carded a 150. Brodin's Round 2 score was 73, while Hoffman hit 75 shots in both rounds. Tyler Show was 26th with a 151.
