FREMONT, Neb. – A key 14-2 run in the second half helped the No. 23 Morningside men's basketball team upend Midland 86-75 on Saturday.
Morningside led by one point with just under 12 minutes left in the game, but made five of its next seven shots, and defensively, limiting the Warriors to 1-for-6 during a near five-minute stretch.
During the game, the Mustangs were 31-for-58, and made 12 3-pointers. From the free-throw line, the Mustangs were 12-for-16.
Joey Skoff – who was a perfect 6-for-6 from the stripe – led the Mustangs with 25 points. He made nine shots, including one 3-pointer.
Aidan Vanderloo led in 3s with four, en route to a 17-point night.
Caleb Dreckman had 14 points, and Brendan Buckley scored 11.
Justin Sitti had a team-high six rebounds, while in assists, Buckley and Skoff had five.
