Six players reach double digits as Mustangs punch their ticket to GPAC championship game

ORANGE CITY, IOWA – It was a familiar sight that welcomed Morningside's men's basketball team as it pulled up to the Northwestern College Bultman Center. Unlike 10 days ago when the teams last met, it was Morningside that came out on top this time, picking up a 93-83 victory over the tournament's no. 1 seed and a trip to Hastings for the Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason tournament championship.

The Mustangs were down 47-46 as the teams headed into their respective locker rooms for the halftime intermission, having battled back to nearly even from a 10 point deficit with 7:35 remaining in the quarter.

Morningside was 33-of-61 from the floor and 12-of-30 from beyond the three-point line. The Mustangs had 27 rebounds, 11 assists, and just five turnovers in the contest.

Joey Skoff and Jack Dotzler led Morningside's platoon of six players that all reached double-digits today, with the two seniors putting up 20 points each, Daniel Brocaille and Caleb Dreckman each putting up 14, Ely Doble with 13, and Aidan Vanderloo checking in with 10 points.

Dotzler and Brocaille each had team-highs in the rebounds column, with five each. Brendan Buckley, Skoff, Vanderloo, and Doble each had three.

The Mustangs will take the floor on championship Tuesday at Hastings' Lynn Farrell Arena, tipping off at 7 p.m.
