Bradley holds off Mside in Overwatch league thriller
Morningside College claimed a first series win over Bradley University of Illinois' Team I Wednesday, Sept. 30, but the Braves rallied back with three successive decisions to hold off a game effort from head coach Jared Amundson's team.
"Both teams came out undefeated and ready to fight for the league's top seed," assistant coach Quentin Charbonneau said. "Morningside had a hard-fought first map win on Illios for a good start to the night. Bradley's Bastion Tank came out after the first map to sweep the next 3 in some of the closest matches we've seen this season.
It was neck and neck as both sides fought admirably with Bradley gaining the edge at the very end of the final 3 maps," he added. "Our team put on a great show proving they are a force to be reckoned with and that this will not deter them from winning the rest of their matches and going into the tourney bracket as the top seed. This loss motivated us to strive to be better and return next week even stronger."
Jorden Presnall (NA) (LeMars, Iowa) was named Most Valuable Player for his work as Main Healer. "He really out-performed what healers usually do," Charbonneau pointed out.
The Overwatch squad returns to competition Wednesday, Oct. 7, taking on AC Badger of Amarillo College of Texas.
