Mustangs force split with Graceland

ELKHORN, Neb. — The Morningside University baseball team split a doubleheader with Graceland on Tuesday, winning the nightcap 10-4. The Mustangs lost Game 1, 5-3.

With the split, the Mustangs won their 16th game of the season.

Game 1: Graceland 5, Morningside 3

Michael Snyder drove in all three runs of the game on a bases-clearing double in the first inning. He scored Ryan Kiolbassa, Giacomo Crosetti, and Jacob O'Dell.

Kiolbassa had a three-hit game in the loss, while Luke Blackmon dialed in a pair of hits.

Coming out of the bullpen, Rhys Fairweather and Sam Hanson didn't allow a run in five innings, and the two surrendered five combined baserunners.

Game 2: Morningside 10, Graceland 4

The Mustangs scored seven times in the nightcap to seal the victory. O'Dell had the big hit of the inning, as this week's GPAC Player of the Week drove home two more runs to make it a 6-1 contest at that time.

Kiolbassa, Crosetti, Michael Snyder, and Nick Grajeda also cashed in runs during the second. Kiolbassa and Michael Delzell had doubles in the win.

Owen Hess earned the win in the game where coach Adam Boeve used seven different men on the mound. Hess pitched the second inning.

Mason Hymer struck out three of the four men he faced during the seventh inning.
