Baseball splits opening pair against Concordia

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Mustangs split a pair of Great Plains Athletic Conference contests today as they played Concordia, dropping the opener 13-10 before picking up an 8-5 win in game two.

Jayson Willers and Giacomo Crosetti homered in the loss, with Brian Garcia and Cade Nolan adding doubles to the outing. Garcia, Eddie Brancato, Willers, Crosetti, Nolan, Nick Grajeda, and Jacob O'Dell also all had RBIs in the contest.

Morningside backed starter Cade Nolan's six-inning effort in the nightcap to collect the win. Nolan gave up four runs off of eight hits, but was able to hold the lead thanks to a strong start and early offense.

Willers put a ball into orbit, exiting the ballpark at the deepest part of center field. Brancato added another double to his impressive career total, and Ryan Kiolbassa and Aiden Bishop joined the pair with RBIs in the day's sequel.

Morningside plays Concordia again tomorrow, celebrating senior day at 12:45 p.m.
