
25 Morningside programs land on NAIA Scholar Team list
KANSAS CITY, MO. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics celebrated its annual National Awards Day today, announcing national awards recipients, the next hall of fame class, and the scholar teams for the 2022-23 academic year.
KANSAS CITY, MO. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics celebrated its annual National Awards Day today, announcing national awards recipients, the next hall of fame class, and the scholar teams for the 2022-23 academic year.
Morningside had 25 teams achieve the scholar team standard, sharing the second-most honorees with Aquinas of Michigan and fellow Great Plains Athletic Conference member Midland. St. Ambrose took the top spot with 26 teams.
Honorees for the Mustangs include Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Bowling, Cheer, Men's and Women's Cross Country, Dance, Football, Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Bowling, Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field, Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field, Men's and Women's Soccer, Softball, Men's and Women's Swimming, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's and Women's Volleyball, and Men's Wrestling.
In order for a team to be considered an NAIA Scholar Team, the team must hold a 3.0 grade point average for the academic year, including every varsity athlete that is listed on the eligibility certificate.
