HASTINGS, Neb. — Lily Vollertsen extended her streak to 11 consecutive games with at least 10 points, but the Morningside women's basketball team dropped a 91-71 decision to Hastings on Saturday.
Vollertsen led the Mustangs with 26 points, knocking down 10 field goals, including two from 3-point range. The senior from Syracuse, Nebraska, also added eight rebounds and three assists.
Morningside (10-6, 5-5 GPAC) had two other players reach double figures, with Clancy Brown scoring 11 points and Sam Ehlers adding 10. Ehlers finished one rebound shy of a double-double, while Brown was two assists short.
The Mustangs showed late resolve, outscoring the Broncos 22-10 in the fourth quarter. Vollertsen accounted for 14 of those 22 points in the final 10 minutes, and Morningside limited Hastings to 3-for-16 shooting during the stretch.
Morningside also forced 19 turnovers and held an advantage on the glass, finishing with 49 rebounds to Hastings' 41.
The Mustangs will remain on the road Wednesday for a 6 p.m. GPAC matchup at Dordt before returning home Jan. 17 to host College of Saint Mary.
