Rain-delayed Mustangs open GPAC tourney with pair of wins
FREMONT, NEB. - A rain delay may have dampened the softball field at Midland University, but it wasn’t enough to dampen Morningside’s spirits as the Mustangs went 2-0 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament today, resuming their contest against Dordt and winning 6-2 before bumping the host, Midland, to the elimination bracket 7-2.

Paige Schuster was the hero in the box for Morningside against Dordt, scoring three times and driving in two runs on a home run. Lanier Keller added a pair of RBIs and Mackenzi Harrel and Jenna Skradski added one each.
Morgan Secora picked up the win in the contest, throwing all seven innings, giving up no earned runs with four hits.
Adeline Fliege added a win in the day's second game, matching Secora's seven innings with no earned runs.
Josie Hernandez led the way at the plate driving in three runs on two hits. Fliege scored twice on two hits, and Schuster, Jenna Skradski, and Emma Barwick all had multi-hit games.
Morningside advances to tomorrow's game 6, playing at approximately 2 p.m. in the bracket championship game.
