
Secora homers twice, earns the win in DH split over Baker
Junior Morgan Secora homered in back-to-back at-bats in the fifth and sixth innings, plus she held Baker to one run in Game 1.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. — Morgan Secora hit two home runs Monday during a 6-1 win for the Morningside University softball team against Baker.
Secora, a junior from Gretna, Neb., homered in back-to-back at-bats in the fifth and sixth innings. Secora's first homer was a solo one, then she hit a three-run homer in the sixth for her fourth RBI of the game.
Paige Schuster hit a home run in the first inning in the clean-up spot.
Lainie Keller drove in the sixth run during the sixth inning that scored Jalyn Noelle. Noelle hit a triple to lead off that frame.
Noelle and Secora both had two hits apiece. Ellie Gengler forced a walk.
Secora was also the winning pitcher. She allowed one earned run on five hits. She struck five Baker hitters out, and didn't walk anyone.
In Game 2, Baker won, 3-0. Morningside was held to one hit, a triple by Schuster. Schuster's triple happened with two outs in the third inning. She was the only baserunner for the Mustangs in the loss.
