
Mustangs start season with 11-run win

Game 1: Morningside 11, Peru State 0 (5 inn.)
Morningside hit five extra-base hits in the 2025 debut. Lainie Keller had two doubles, and Jenna Skradski had a double and a triple. Kennedy Wineland also connected on a triple.
Keller, who hit in the No. 3 spot in the lineup, drove in four runs at the American State Bank Dome Classic.
Ellie Gengler and Skradski both had two RBIs, while Paige Schuster and Jalyn Noelle had one.
Morningside scored five runs in the first inning, and three came before the first out. Skradski's triple came with two outs in the frame, scoring Adeline Fliege and Gengler.
Fliege recorded her first shutout of 2025, allowing three hits. She walked four and struck out six. She threw 87 pitches, and 50 of those were strikes.
Game 2: William Penn 6, Morningside 4 (8 inn.)
The Mustangs tied the game with two runs in the fifth inning. Down 4-2, Schuster hit a two-run single that split the gap in right center field that scored Noelle and Fliege.
Schuster also had an RBI single during the third inning, while Josie Hernandez drove in one in the second. Schuster had three RBIs.
Noelle had two stolen bases, while Skradski had one against the Statesmen.
Bralen Biddlecome spent all eight innings in the circle, and she threw 133 pitches. She allowed 12 hits and struck out three.
