SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Six different Mustangs contributed to the scoring as Morningside rolled to a 7-0 win over Maharishi on Friday at Elwood Olsen Stadium.
The Mustangs dominated from the start, tallying 21 shots on goal and 40 total attempts while not allowing a single shot on target in the first half. Kenan Kodal opened the scoring in the 19th minute before Javier Ruchelli -- who had five shots -- doubled the lead 10 minutes later. Jonah Timmerman made it 3-0 before halftime.
Morningside stayed in control after the break. Nico Larsson scored off a pass from Tobias Allerstorfer in the 67th minute, followed by back-to-back goals from Gustavo Garcia-Mojic in the 75th and 77th minutes. Elis Olden capped the rout with a goal in the 90th minute, also assisted by Allerstorfer.
Goalkeepers Timon Koerber and Josue Carrasco-Moral split time to combine for the shutout, while Garcia-Mojic led the team with five shots on goal. The victory marked Morningside's highest goal total of the season.
